Celebrate Great Summer Foods
At Our Farmers’ Market

What’s Happening at the Market

Come get your feet wet at the Hunterdon Land Trust Farmers’ Market on Sunday, June 30 with a free critter and stream exploration at the Dvoor Farm’s Walnut Brook starting at 10:30 a.m.

AmeriCorps NJ Watershed Ambassador Daniel Correa will encourage participants to leave no stone unturned as they search for macroinvertebrates inhabiting the brook. These tiny creatures are fascinating and provide vital information about a stream’s health. Exploration tools will be provided.

Our Land Trust Special lets you save $1 off any one vendor. Become a Land Trust Supporter and save a little — which adds up to a lot! — every time you shop at our market.

Here’s what’s special at the farm stands this week:

Apple Ridge Farm is throwing a seasonal twist to one of its most popular breads. Its adding garlic scapes to its Garlic Asiago Bread.

Comeback Farm: is bringing a whole loot of summer squash after getting their bumper crop this week! Zucchini muffins anyone?! Or how about zuke fries? Recipes for both squash treats will be available at the Comeback Farm stand. While there, make sure to pick up some romaine, fennel, beets, carrots, salad greens, cooking greens and more!

Neshanic Station Apiaries is going to continue giving out free packets of borage seed, because it went so well last Sunday! We love the idea of our friends sowing borage plants all over the region. Also, the apiary will bring some new beeswax wrap prints to the market: sea turtles on organic cotton. Finally, make sure to pick up its new jasmine lotion bar we will be offering.

Pretty Bird Farm: Pretty Bird Farm is filling in this Sunday for Best in Bloom Bouquets. Based in Stockton, the farm offers an enchanting selection of fresh flowers.

Purely Farm sausage

Purely Farm: Stop by and check out Purely Farm’s secret Fourth of July sale! As always, Joanna at Purely has you covered for all your pasture-raised pork and turkey desires from its Killer Kielbasi and turkey wings to its scrumptious country sausage. And to take advantage of that early secret Fourth of July sale, all you have to do is stop by its stand and ask . . . what a fun idea!

WoodsEdge Farm returns to our Farmers’ Market.

Lisa Perry will lead Farmers’ Market Yoga at 9 a.m. in the wagon house. To see our complete yoga schedule, please go here!

Ed Jankiewicz will perform from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Grab a Fired Up Flatbread pizza, a burek or a tasty snack from Apple Ridge Farm with a Fieldstone cup of coffee or bubble tea and enjoy some live music.

Great Eats for the Week

Last week, Sandbrook Meadow Farm started bringing cabbage to our market!

Grilled Cabbage with Bacon

What You’ll Need:

½ small shallot, chopped
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon honey
6 slices bacon, cooked, 1 tablespoon fat reserved
¼ cup olive oil, plus more
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 head green cabbage, cut into quarters
Croutons (for serving)

What To Do:

Whisk together shallot, vinegar, mustard, and honey; gradually whisk in bacon fat and ¼ cup oil. Crumble in bacon; season with salt and pepper and set aside.

Drizzle cabbage with oil; season with salt and pepper. Grill over medium heat, turning occasionally, until tender and lightly charred, 15–18 minutes. Serve topped with vinaigrette and croutons.
