Stock Up for Your Labor Day
Barbecue at our Farmers’ Market


It doesn’t seem fair how quickly summer is going by; it feels like only yesterday we were talking about Memorial Day barbecues and now Labor Day is almost upon us. The kids are heading back to school, and life will soon resume its hectic pace.

But don’t let the insanity of daily life prevent you from stocking up on all the nutrient-rich food you’ll need to get through your busy schedule. Stop by our Farmers’ Market this Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dvoor Farm, 111 Mine St. in Flemington for all your local favorites. At our market, you’ll find more than 20 local farmers and vendors offering organic produce, beef, pork, chicken, honey, artisan breads, cheese, granola, garlic, homemade butter and vutter (come to the market to find out what that is).

Yoga

Join Lauren Theis in our wagon house for Farmers’ Market yoga at 10 a.m.. Our yoga will have you feeling rejuvenated and ready to enjoy the remaining days of summer. Cost is $15; please bring your own mat.

Music

Guitarist Keith Calmes has been performing and teaching guitar for more than three decades. He’ll be playing live in our music tent from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

His performance credits include a Carnegie Hall recital debut as Winner of the Artists International Competition, concerti with the Monmouth Symphony, a performance with Maestro Carlos Barbosa-Lima and many concerts and recordings with flautist Marjorie Koharski.

Although usually considered a classical guitarist, Keith’s musical diversity can be attested to. He has studied with Jazz master Jim Hall and opened for Surf legend Dick Dale. A deep interest in Indian rhythms has led to studies and performances with percussion virtuoso Selvaganesh Vinayakram and his family band. Keith has also played in a wide variety of Jazz and Rock bands.

Great Eats for the Week

Southern Tomato Salad

What You’ll Need:

2 cups halved multicolored cherry tomatoes
1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup sliced fresh peaches
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon fresh mint leaves
2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 ounce crumbled goat cheese

What To Do:

— Combine tomatoes and 1/8 tsp. salt in a bowl. Let stand 5 minutes. Add peaches, olive oil, mint leaves, vinegar, and 1/8 tsp. kosher salt; toss.

— Top with pepper and crumbled goat cheese.
