Visit the Dvoor Farm Sunday
For Our Holiday Farmers’ Market


We are wrapping up our 2015 regular Farmers’ Market season with our annual holiday market. Join us this Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dvoor Farm, 111 Mine St. in Raritan Township.

What’s New

We’ll have several special guests at this week’s Farmers’ Market to help you get ready for the holidays:

  • John Wear Pottery will be stocked with unique gifts.
  • Whimsey Eco Chick will visit the market to sell eco-sustainable, re-purposed feed bags collected from nearly a dozen local zip codes.
  • Mustache Jack Creations of Flemington will offer beautiful wood-crafted items for sale.

You can also find a variety of great gifts offered by our local farmers. Stop by and take a look around.

If you ordered a turkey at our market, don’t forget to pick it up! Also, Griggstown Farm will have some turkeys available for purchase. Because of the warm autumn weather, we have been able to offer a wonderful assortment of greens and other veggies this month. Treat your family and friends to an unforgettable Thanksgiving dinner that includes fresh, local produce.

Land Trust Special

This week’s Land Trust Special again invites you to save $1 at any one farm stand. Pick up something special for your Thanksgiving table or try something new. As always, you can pick up your special offer at our booth.

Recipe

This week, Chef Matt McPherson from Matt’s Red Rooster Grill shares with us his amazing Three-Day Thanksgiving Turkey Brine recipe. (Thank you, Matt!)

Three-Day Turkey Brine

Turkey-1496077What You’ll Need:
1 gallon fresh apple cider
6 garlic cloves, crushed
1 sweet Vidalia onion, medium dice
1 ½ cups light brown sugar
1 ½ cups kosher salt
20 whole black pepper corns
3 bunches fresh thyme
2 juniper berries crushed
1 star anise, crushed
4 bay leaves broken

What To Do:
— Mix above ingredients together.
— Place turkey in mixture and place it in the refrigerator for 24 hours.
— Rinse lightly and air dry in the refrigerator for 24 hours. This will ensure a crisp skin.
— Combine 1/4 cup olive oil, ¼ cup melted butter with juice and zest of 2 oranges, salt and pepper, 1 bunch of fresh thyme, chopped. Mix together and rub the turkey, roast in the oven and enjoy. (see note)
